#153 unexpected

The average age of my trick-or-treaters last night was about eight.  Most every time I opened the door there was a tiny princess or miniature super hero smiling up at me with a huge grin...

...except for the time I opened the door and found four middle school-age boys.  Their sheer size alone was a startling concept to what I had been seeing, but their request surprised me even more.  Instead of collecting treats for themselves, they were out gathering canned goods for the food bank.  I wish I had a pantry-full that I could have given them.

When is the last time that you did something that surprised someone in a good way?  When did you deviate from what was expected, and deliver something that was more delightful?  It is fun to be on the receiving end of such an aberration.  Try to startle someone with your generosity today!
